The exchange student from Bathurst finally reached her last day. The 7th grade students took the lead in planning games, and the Upper Course held a farewell party. One game, the “Three Clues Quiz,” involved guessing who was being described from three hints. Everyone thought hard and enjoyed the quiz together. Conversations were mainly in English! Having the exchange student visit really motivated everyone to want to speak English.

The host family also came to the farewell party, so the students repeatedly said, “Thank you!” to express their gratitude. Next, everyone moved to the arena to play “Daruma-san ga Koronda”. This game was chosen to introduce a traditional Japanese activity, and it turns out there’s a similar game in Australia as well (Red Light, Green Light).

Since it was a game that everyone could enjoy together, it was a huge hit—everyone moved their bodies and had fun. They were also very happy with the farewell message gifts. Seeing the exchange student express gratitude to each person individually brought everyone joy.

They shared many memories, such as “It was fun,” “The food was delicious,” “Making takoyaki and sweets during cooking practice,” “Working together in English class,” and “Playing together during recess.”

Next, it will be our turn to go from Okuma Town to Bathurst! This year marks the 30th “Okuma Town Wings of Hope” program. For the first time, children from Yumenomori will participate. Looking forward to reuniting in Bathurst—“Goodbye for now!”
