The “Furusato Creative Learning Summit” is a program in which students rediscover the charms and challenges of their community, view reconstruction and town development as their own responsibility, and envision a sustainable future for their hometown. This was the 12th time this event was held this year.

It is a valuable opportunity for elementary and junior high school students in Futaba District to present the results of their own inquiry projects and to learn from diverse perspectives by engaging with the initiatives and ideas of other schools. We first interacted with students from other schools by introducing ourselves and getting to know one another.

At Manabiya Yumenomori, students from grades 3 to 9 participated and presented the results of their Future Design projects. Up to this point, the school has held presentations at the Yume Festival in late September and another for local community members in late November. While receiving advice from parents and community members, students reflected on their individual inquiry projects. Today marks the final opportunity to present their work.

With the mindset of “Let’s communicate clearly,” “Listen carefully and deepen understanding,” and “Connect and expand our thoughts and ideas,” the students listened to the presentations and took part in the sessions.
