Today had cool breezes blowing which eased the heat from yesterday.

For their art class, the 5th and 6th grade students drew pictures of their trip to Tokyo from memory. With multiple attempts, they were able to draw a spectacular view of Tokyo Tower from below, and the majestic apperance of Kaminarimon. They weren’t able to colour it satisfactorily however, and they started again. Their attitude of working tenaciously was very impressive.

The 5th grade students are currently raising medaka (fish). During science class, they changed the water in the tank, which was so cloudy, it looked like they added bath salts to it. Without asking, a student says “I want to change the water,” and started doing it in the middle of class. Fetching water from the river is not an easy task, but the students worked hard to fulfill their responsibility to nuture life.

The plants that they are growing for science class are growing quickly. They only just sprouted the other day, but their vitality is amazing. We are looking forward to seeing what the result of the childrens experiment will be.

Just like the plants, the swallows, which were small chicks the other day, are getting bigger and bigger. The speed in which these chicks had grown was dizzying.

The 9th grade students made resin charms after school. Ben, the ALT, made one for the first time with them. We had a great time teaching how to make them in English, and talking about Ben’s japanese jokes. The theme for this month After School sessions will be “Culture”. We will be doing various creative activities.
