A doctor from the Fukushima International Research and Education Institute (F-REI) visited us. The institute is a non-profit organization that conducts research on robots, agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and energy, and collects and disseminates data and knowledge on radiation science, pharmaceutical medicine, industrial use of radiation, and nuclear disasters. Children from Yumenomori will be presenting at the 2nd anniversary symposium to be held in Namie Town on Saturday the 26th.

They learned about the research that F-REI is conducting, and through group work they thought about the future of Hamadori in 2050. It was a time to think creatively about how they want to develop Hamadori in the future.

Write down what you want them to research and what you want your future to be.

“I was surprised to find out that such advanced research is being conducted in a place close to me. It was a very good experience to be able to talk to the people organizing the research and exchange opinions with them.”

“I enjoyed taking notes on the research I would like F-REI to do. I want to know what kind of research they are doing.”

“Today’s workshop allowed me to learn about the kind of research F-REI is doing. I’m looking forward to seeing what they will create.”

“I was surprised that someone in the opening quiz was able to talk to a crow. I hope that robots will continue to evolve. Please keep up the good work with your research.”

“Thank you for coming up with ideas like asking a quiz at the beginning so that we could have fun, and for coming dressed up as Pikachu and the professor. I wanted to support F-REI’s research.”
