We held the first “Meets the World”. Following on from last year, Oki, who runs the online educational program “Meets the World”, was in charge. We interacted with people from three countries, Afghanistan, India, and Vietnam, through ZOOM.
“I chose Vietnam because I was interested in Vietnamese food.” “I’ll ask what their favorite Vietnamese dish is.” The topic that is closest to me and that interests me the most is food! It makes me feel like I’m on a little trip.

[Looking forward to three years from now – Kiwi planting for 5th and 6th graders]
On a day when the fresh greenery is in the air, we headed to Kiwiland♪ 「Official website: ReFruits Co., Ltd. https://www.kiwinokuni.com/」 This orchard just started its own cultivation in 2024, with the motto “We will once again produce delicious fruit in Okuma, Fukushima.” The first harvest is scheduled for 2026.
They were interested in hearing about the number of kiwis cultivated and what kinds of kiwis can be harvested. They didn’t seem to be used to using shovels when planting, but they worked hard. They said, “I’m looking forward to seeing them in three years,” because the “Yumenomori” plate was attached to the tree, and although it’s still a while before we can harvest, they were in high spirits.
After planting was finished, we got to try some kiwi fruit, which weren’t harvested here, but we were very satisfied and said, “It’s delicious!”
In three years, they will be in 8th and 9th grade. “I hope you grow up healthy!” Thank you to everyone in Kiwi country.
