A Red Cross registration ceremony was held, and representative students were presented with membership registration certificates and badges. The Red Cross is an organization that was established by Henri Dunant of Switzerland and his friends to help those injured in war. Dunant said, “The wounded have no friend or foe,” and this activity began with the desire to help those injured in war. In Japan, a man named Tsunetami Sano helped wounded people, and Red Cross activities began.

We learned about the Red Cross through a video.

The Junior Red Cross was created to encourage young people to take the initiative to help their friends and others. It aims to foster individuals who can “notice, think, and act” on their own. We also learned that it takes courage to take action.

The Pledge

「As a member of the Junior Red Cross, I pledge to strengthen my body and mind, and to dedicate myself to the service of others, my community, my country, and the world.」

What does it mean to value life and respect one another? Doing something for others can be difficult. But by realizing that we are part of society, we can start by doing what we can. With that in mind, we carried out a clean-up activity in our local area.

After the registration ceremony, we got ready and walked to the Council of Social Welfare. It was a sunny day, and we worked together with local residents to pick up litter. Even in the heat, everyone did their best.
