We held the third session of picture book reading and book talk by Kuma no Pocket. During the summer vacation, what books did the students read?

In the lower grades, students enjoyed seasonal picture books such as Halloween Pumpkin.

In the upper grades, students asked each other questions and made the book talk more engaging. One student who read Guinness World Records 2025 shared their thoughts: “A Guinness record we could achieve might be playing Daruma-san ga Koronda with a large group.” Other students introduced original works of books that had been turned into anime or movies, reflecting on their summer reading experiences.

In the upper grades, the reading included Ryunosuke Akutagawa’s The Spider’s Thread and the true story Mary Smith.

Reflections:
“What left an impression on me was Mary Smith. I was surprised to learn about the job of a ‘Knocker-Up,’ who woke people up in the town. Thank you very much for today.”
