Vision, Values, and Mission

"Vision" of Yumenomori

V I S I O N

Cherish "me",
respect "you",
and weave the future together.

From the challenges of the earthquake and nuclear disaster, we have redefined values and the concept of learning. We pursue "liberty" for each child as a unique individual.

After the earthquake, Okuma, a town that experienced tension and dilemma, received immense support, and aim to create the kindest society.

Our goal is for each child to take ownership, envision an ideal future, and co-create it with others. Through education, we strive to foster synergy between learning and realizing sustainable community.

"Values" of Yumenomori

V A L U E

We cherish the values of "self-discipline and independence", "empathy and collaboration", and "inheritance and creation", fostering the growth of children’s abilities and qualities. These values are reflected in the respect for diversity and contribute to forming a society that pursues the well-being of its citizens.

"Mission" of Yumenomori

M I S S I O N

We are committed to designing an environment where:Children are not standardized or grouped based on age or abilities, fostering a "mixed-age learning" approach.
Teaching is not overly directive, allowing individuals to "actively manage their own learning".
Everyone forms an "inclusive learning community" where they engage in mutual teaching, learning, and coexistence.
Each unique child can fully "unleash their curiosity, immerse themselves in their passions", and thrive in an environment that accelerates both learning and play.

Statement

Discover Dreams,
Share Dreams,
Nurture Dreams

Here, children find what they "love" and
take the time to engage deeply with it.
In our school, they are surrounded by
friends and teachers who feel like
family.
Everyone is valued, mistakes aren't
judged, and small victories are
celebrated together.
We want children to enjoy a fun-filled
childhood with these experiences.
They learn so much through play, so without
losing the sense of playfulness, even in
learning, they build the strength to shape
their own futures.
We believe in the potential of public education
and we are dedicated to creating a school of
dreams where each child can shine.

Symbol (Emblem)

The design incorporates the character '大' (Okuma) and overlaps three of them to appear as a forest. The symbol also represents people in lively communication and interaction.

The emblem represents the interaction of children of different ages and their engagement with the local community, fostering their spirits of "mutual learning". The design was created by Masaaki Hiromura, the developer of the pictograms for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

School Song

Each individual gathers and mingles, becoming friends.

My experience suggests that as children, I rarely distinguished between 'I' and 'You,' as one might in English. Entering school introduces new relationships beyond the close familial bonds of home. Gradually, I became aware of myself as part of the intricate web of human connections. This thought inspired the lyrics.

School Song
of Manabiya Yumenomori

Lyrics: Shuntaro Tanikawa
Music: Kensaku Tanikawa

"It is good to be alone, Run Run Run,
So is being with everyone, Run Run Run
It is good to be alone sometimes,
but I think that it is better to be with everyone.

Me and you, and you and me
Me and you, and you and me
The things that I like are different, but
the things that I don't like are differnt, too
One person, and one person, and one person, makes everyone
One person, and one person, and one person, makes everyone

Yumenomori, we all learn together
Yumenomori, we all play together

We're exploring for everyones tomorrow
Under today's brightest big blue sky
