We visited the town hall for a preliminary survey in preparation for the Children’s Assembly on Thursday, the 8th of October.
The 7th to 9th grade students had been preparing for this day in their social studies classes by considering general questions to ask in the assembly.
Through a Q&A session with staff members from the Planning and Coordination Division, Environmental Measures Division, Life Support Division, Zero Carbon Promotion Division, and the Education General Affairs Division, we were able to learn more about the current situation of the town.
We sincerely appreciate the time you took to meet with us despite your busy schedules.

Students asked questions that naturally arose from living in Okuma Town, such as tourist attractions, the number of streetlights, bus frequency, and traffic safety.
Some students also raised questions about the Yumenomori school building. Since they actually attend the school, they seemed particularly interested in the future of the facilities.

Some students also asked questions connected to their inquiry activities in the Future Design program.
During more than an hour of discussion with the town officials, they were able to learn about the initiatives the town is working on. From here, they will continue refining their general questions.

After returning to school, the students shared the answers they had received to their questions.
Some questions seemed worth exploring further, and the revision process became very engaging.
With thoughts like “Maybe we can ask even more,” they are working hard to finalize their questions.
