What kinds of dangers might be hidden in our daily lives? To help students respond safely and avoid danger in an emergency, we held a Crime Prevention Class and a Student Pick-up Drill.

This time, the drill simulated a situation in which a suspicious person entered the school building. With the cooperation of the police and the Okuma Security Team (official website), students learned about crime prevention issues and basic self-defense techniques. We are grateful for this valuable opportunity.

The student pick-up drill was conducted simultaneously at both the kindergarten and the compulsory education school. Thank you very much to all the parents and guardians for your cooperation.

Reflections:

  • “When the announcement was broadcast, I spoke a little, so I want to be more careful. I learned that the sasumata (forked pole) is not for defeating someone, but for restraining them until the police arrive, and that there are three ways to hold someone down.”
  • “During the drill, I was able to listen to the announcement and act quietly. I want to firmly remember the self-defense techniques taught by Mr. Fukushima and others so that I can protect myself.”
  • “I was able to listen quietly to the announcement and lock the door. I waited sitting down until the next instruction. I want to do my best so that I can protect myself.”
  • “Before the announcement, I was in the social studies classroom. I think it is important to practice through drills so that we are always ready to respond in case a suspicious person comes.”
