During the 4C period, we reflected on our Imoni Festival. Students from grades 1–4 were in charge of hospitality, while students from grades 5–9 took care of cooking and serving. We started by watching videos of the school songs from Kumamachi Elementary, Ono Elementary, and Yumenomori, and shared positive feedback about our friends.

Some of the comments included:

  • “I liked the way you looked at the audience while singing.”
  • “Many people said my singing was loud and clear.”
  • “You were really good at making rice balls.”

Next, we exchanged ideas for next year’s hospitality activities. Some suggestions were:

  • “Activities that both children and adults can enjoy together”
  • “A small bingo game with origami prizes”
  • “Rock-paper-scissors tournaments”
  • “Icebreakers”
  • “Musical performances”
  • “Dance performances”
  • “Singing the second verse of the school song”
  • “Unicycle performances”
  • “Comedy acts”
  • “Yosakoi dance”

It will be exciting to see what kind of hospitality activities we plan next year, based on the children’s ideas!

In the second half of the period, students took on a tongue twister challenge!

They practiced speaking in rhythm and passing the phrase like a baton. Some students were surprised by how well they could do it:

“I didn’t think I could, but I can say it smoothly!”
