Last month was designated as Reading Month, and the children engaged in reading more than usual. In addition to the books available in the school building, some students read e-books or books they had purchased themselves, while others enjoyed listening to picture books read aloud by teachers in the Book Plaza. At the fourth Book Lab of this school year, the children enthusiastically introduced the books they had read in November.

Students in grades 1–3 enjoyed picture book read-aloud sessions, while students in grades 4–9 took part in book talks and read-aloud activities. Thank you to Kuma no Pocket for joining us. The next Book Lab is scheduled for February.

In the upper grades, students exchanged ideas about the books they had introduced. Wondering, “What kind of book is it?”, they showed one another the books they had brought.
“I read the Poplardia Encyclopedia while recalling what we learned in social studies,” one student said. Another shared, “I’m reading a book illustrated by Shinsuke Yoshitake.”

On the shelf in front of the library counter, a seasonal display—the “Advent Calendar”—has appeared!
An Advent calendar is used to count down the days until Christmas. When you turn over each date card, it introduces a book related to Christmas.
There are only a few days left in this year!
