After finishing last week’s high school visits, the students took time to reflect on their experiences. By actually visiting the high schools, each student began thinking about life after graduating from Yumeno Mori. Until now, they had visited Futaba Mirai Gakuen High School, but this time it was a valuable opportunity to visit technical, commercial, and agricultural high schools.

Impressions
- I learned that high school students make many different things by themselves. The motorcycle and the car that runs on a course left a strong impression on me. Making them seems difficult, but I thought it would be exciting to compete in tournaments or ride a bike that you made yourself. I became interested in club activities.
- In the Food Science Department, I saw cooking classes. I learned that besides Japanese sweets, they also make bread, baked goods, jam, and bacon.
- I realized that even though both involve making things, industrial and agricultural fields focus on different activities.
- The school buildings felt full of history. I thought the mechanical engineering curriculum looked fun.
- The cooking classes looked very professional and enjoyable. What stood out to me was a teacher saying, “You can make anything.”
- The uniforms were cute and felt very “high school–like.” I want to go to a high school where I can study what I like.
- I like making things, so I’m glad I had the chance to visit.
- I was surprised by the wide variety of clubs, such as the equestrian club, and by how large the specialized machines were. I was amazed to hear that students made a motorcycle. The school building felt historic.
- I learned that you can study many things, such as drones and programming robot arms, in addition to motorcycles.
- I realized that each high school offers things that can only be learned there. The facilities and environment were well equipped, and I thought, “That’s what makes it a high school.”
Choosing a future path is not something that can be decided right away. It is important to think about one’s strengths, interests, and future goals, and to analyze oneself while considering what is needed to become the person one wants to be. After moving on to the upper grades, there are only three years left until the end of compulsory education. What students are learning now is a small step toward achieving their future goals. Being able to visit high schools and observe classes became a very important step forward.
