We held a workshop that makes dreams come true with “Pathfinders”, who set excitement as their top priority at Fukushima Sky Park in Fukushima City! Children from kindergarten up to the 6th grade, and those from Junior High school who research battleships and fighter planes in the future design classes, also participated, and a professional pilot taught them how to make a paper airplane that flies well.

Although it is a “paper” airplane, it is made of styrofoam! They put them together following the instructions. Apparently, by using a double clip to make the front heavier, the way it flies changes! They seemed excited to fly it.

Once the assembly was complete, the children were ready to try to fly them. They tried different ways to throw them, different angles, and other trial and error techniques. They were thrilled by the way they flew, which was different from a paper airplane, and they flew they over and over again, saying, “It’s fun!”

Even a light fling can fly a long way, so some kids even tried gliding them from the second floor. It looks like the paper airplane boom will continue for a while.

Thank you to Pathfinders!

~Thoughts~

・By changing the way they fly, it can fly diagonally, or spin upwards. It was a lot of fun to modify it.

・I was happy to see the plane I made fly.
