On the last Friday of June, we held our second open class of the year.
Even during lunch break, the children were already looking forward to seeing their families—some were saying, “Isn’t Mom here yet?” while others were excitedly calling out, “Dad’s here!”
There was a buzz of excitement in the air, and the kids could hardly sit still.

In the art room, the 1st and 2nd graders had a joint art class.
The 1st graders worked on the theme “Let’s Make a Feast with Clay,” while the 2nd graders created artworks based on the theme “Turning Memories into Art.”
Everyone was fully engaged in their projects.
Many children shared with big smiles, “It was so much fun doing this together with my family!”

In the upper grades, students were actively engaged in a variety of subjects.
In health class, they reflected on topics related to personal well-being, while in math they tackled calculation problems, and in English they worked hard on grammar exercises.
Although some looked a bit nervous, they stayed focused—working through their individual tasks and thinking together as a group.

In the Kusunoki Class, students tried making their own coasters!
Using chopsticks, they carefully placed beads onto the coaster bases.

The 3rd and 4th graders also had a joint music class, where they explored rhythm through playful activities and experienced quarter notes with their bodies.

Following the open class, we held the second Tomo ni Tsukuru Kai (“Creating Together” meeting).
We shared ideas and visions for a Community School and collaborative school-community activities, and held a planning session to discuss concrete steps forward.
It was a valuable opportunity for parents and community designers to exchange ideas on how to provide learning support and hands-on experiences during and after school.

Thank you very much for coming.
