Under the guidance of the Futaba Fire Department, we participated in a training session on “foreign body ingestion” and “first aid and lifesaving”, preparing ourselves for possible emergency situations.

Foreign Body Ingestion

Unexpected items that can cause choking include…

They are surprisingly common foods.
This reminded us of the importance of reminding children every day to take small bites and chew their food well instead of filling their mouths.

Emergency First Aid

We learned about the importance of rescue breaths for infants and young children.

Due to differences in body size, the methods for giving rescue breaths and performing chest compressions vary. We want to make sure we understand the key points and work together as staff to respond appropriately in an emergency.
